Jesus said, “Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the Gospel who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come.” ~Mk 10: 29-30

Today, I share what I see about the verses quoted above from Mark, Chapter 10, Verses 29 and 30.

I want to share regarding the section that says “now in this present age”, and the part that says “with persecutions.”

What I find interesting about these phrases is related to yesterday’s video.

I tend to hear a lot of Christians, followers of Christ of all denominations, talk about this hundred fold payment as something that happens after life.

But, clearly, Jesus is saying a hundred times more right now, in this present age. And, he’s also saying is not all roses and unicorns. There’s going to be persecution.

I’m not going into persecution as in somebody trying to harm me because of what I believe, but more from the idea that it’s not supposed to be later. Whatever blessings God has for me because I follow without attaching myself to the things of the world, are supposed to be from now and forever.

And, it also comes with negative things that will happen. It’s not going to be all beautiful, is not going to be easy, is not necessarily going to be pleasant all the way.

But there is a promise in there that if I stay true to my calling, as a follower of Jesus, I will have blessings a hundred times more than whatever it is that I’m willing to let go of. Whatever value I see in the things that I’m letting go of, I’m going to receive a hundred times more that in blessings, even when obstacles, challenges, hard times, and sad times happen.

That is a very positive thing to know it is not like saving for retirement. It’s not in 40 years when I’m done working, I’m going to enjoy this life. It’s enjoyment happening now. And, it’s on a one-to-one basis, but a 100 to 1 return.

That’s what I see. Let me know what you see.

In peace,

~Juan
