Setting The Foundation For Spiritual Growth in 2024
And Mary kept all these things, reflecting them in her heart .” ~ Lk 2:19
As we step into a new year, I find myself drawn to the wisdom of the Gospel of Luke, chapter two, verses 16 to 21, particularly verse 19: “As for Mary, she treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart.”
While the verse is originally about Mary’s response to the shepherds sharing the angel’s message, it prompts a different approach to the start of a new year.. Instead of hastily crafting New Year’s resolutions, what if we, like Mary, took a moment to ask:
- What has God told me in 2023?
- What messages, patterns, or habits I noticed in 2023?
- How are we taking these insights to heart and use them to create something better in 2024?
Mary’s reminds us to sift through the experiences of the past year and extract the spiritual gems that might have gone unnoticed.
Setting the foundation for spiritual growth in 2024
Today, rather than a lengthy read, I find it worthwhile to take the time to reviewing 2023 for patterns that can help me grow my faith and connection with God in the coming year.
