God Is Like The GPS

Whenever the object of clay which he was making turned out badly in his hand, he tried again, making of the clay another object of whatever sort he pleased. ~ Jer 18:4
Jeremiah caught my attention because his experience reminded of God’s presence in life.
It’s the verse above that served as a contrast to personal biases.
I tend to think in perfectionist ways. There is a formula and if you’re not going to follow the formula, if you’re not going to follow these steps to get to the outcome that’s already planned,
then don’t waste your time.
I tend to not start a project or follow an idea If I think that I’m going to fail after several steps. If I’m not going to do it right, then might as well not do it.
Jeremiah’s scene reminded me this commonly shared concept that no matter what path I choose, if I stay faithful, the Lord will bless me. The Lord will find a way to help me move forward.
This is becoming real in my life. It seems to me that God works like the GPS system. Whenever you take the wrong turn, the GPS recalculates and tells you, “Okay, you went this way, but you can turn around on this other road and you can still end wherever you want to go.”
Verse 4 takes it a step further. It says he took the clay and tried to do something else.
To me, this is a reminder that God is always in a creative state of mind. He is always trying to create more through me. His approaching things from a creationist point of view. It’s not about success or failure but creating something new.
So, if I try something in path number one and it doesn’t work as well, another idea comes up and I’m not starting from zero. I’ll just create something else.
Maybe, this is a reminder that there is no right or wrong in the path of life. In the path of aligning with God there is no right or wrong; there is simply something new to create.
How do you deal with failure or setbacks?
In peace,
